Test mode (sample error detection)¶
Test mode opens a short window (30 minutes) during which your connector can send a synthetic sample error to Patcherly without affecting production metrics or billing quotas the same way a real incident would.
When to use it¶
- You just installed a connector and want proof that errors reach the dashboard.
- You are validating log paths or detection settings before going live.
- You need a safe sample for training team members on the Errors workflow.
How to turn it on¶
- Open Targets in the dashboard.
- Find your website/app and enable Test mode (or use Send sample error — the dashboard opens the window automatically).
- Send a sample from the connector (
patcherly send-test, WordPress Send Sample Error, or the minted browser URL).
The window closes when the timer runs out, or you can turn it off early from the same Targets row.
What happens to the sample¶
- The error is marked as a test sample and is easy to spot in the Errors list.
- When the window is closed, further test error requests are rejected with a link back to Targets.
