Protection mode

What protection mode is

Protection mode temporarily pauses your Patcherly connector for one target (one website or app). While active, the connector does not send new errors to Patcherly and does not apply patches. This protects you when several suspicious errors suggest an active attack on that target.

When it triggers automatically

When enough suspicious errors come from one target within a short rolling window, Patcherly enters protection mode for that target. Exact thresholds are set by your platform administrator and may appear in the target banner.

What it does to your connector

Full silence until the lock lifts:

  • No error detection
  • No fix polling or apply

Your application keeps running; only the Patcherly connector pipeline pauses for that target.

How long it lasts and how to release early

The dashboard shows when protection mode will auto-release. Any team member on your workspace can Release from protection mode on the target page sooner — you must enter a short reason so there is a record.

Errors during protection mode

Errors that occur on your server while protection mode is active are not captured by Patcherly. After release, normal monitoring resumes.

Will I be notified?

When a target enters protection mode, your workspace may receive email (if notification preferences allow Target protection mode).

When a single error is quarantined, your workspace is not emailed — the error stays visible in the dashboard with a quarantine badge. Patcherly Staff are alerted so they can review and mark false positives benign.

Manually triggering protection mode

If you suspect an attack before the automatic threshold fires, your workspace owner or any team member on that workspace can trigger protection mode manually from the target page (reason required).
